A feeling for the sea, in silver…

Åland has a strong maritime tradition. Gustaf Erikson of Åland was the last great owner of sailing ships in the world. In 1935 Gustaf Erikson’s fleet consisted of 15 steel square-riggers, 8 North Sea traders and 6 motor sailing ships.

A reef knot tied in silver is a natural motif that ties in with our tradition and our love of the sea.

The RÅBANDSKNOP (“reef knot”) earrings are antique-finished for a darker, more patinated surface.

They are also available in “bright” silver (not antique-finished); if you would like them that way, please add a note in the comments box when you place your order.

Where does my jewellery come from?

Åland – a tranquil island in the Baltic Sea, between Finland and Sweden. Here, in the beautiful Maritime Quarter in the heart of Mariehamn, you’ll find both our store and our workshop.

Guldviva was born in Åland in 1989 and has always kept its production here. For us, it has been important to have full control over the entire process, where jewellery making and sales go hand in hand. This way, we can ensure the highest quality and offer personal service. With us, you always know where your jewellery comes from – right here in Åland.
